This year we watched the Canada Day fireworks from Victoria Park Road.
We had a great view of the High Level Bridge for the official debut of Light the Bridge and the fireworks. Plus we got to watch the human theatre as people arrived and set up to watch the show.
We had to wait until it was dark, which is pretty late this time of year – 11 pm. Before the fireworks started, the High Level bridge was bathed in LED lights for the first ever light show. Light The Bridge was a $2.5-million crowd funded Make Something Edmonton project. I’ve never seen the waterfall that used to operate on the High Level Bridge and it sounded nice, but had a high environmental cost. Not only is Light The Bridge more environmentally friendly, it is not a government project, it’s a community project.
Then the fireworks started, it was a great show!
