I had the pleasure of volunteering at Host Edmonton this weekend. It was a delicious and intimate affair.
On Friday night I was able to check out the Fine Wine Gala.
It was my first time in the Riverview Room, what a fantastic view!
I didn’t do the wine tasting, but it looks like it was enjoyable.
On the way out the door we met Kevin Braush and ended up tasting some wine with him and shared a few laughs.
Saturday Morning Tom and I helped with Christine Cushing‘s Cooking Demonstration. Both of us picked up some great tips, what a baker she is.
After the presentation we were able to chat with Christine and her sous-chef about the brushetta and panna cotta she prepared.
We slipped away after lunch to catch the all ages at The Roxy to celebrate Le Fuzz’s new CD Usona.
When we returned we served dinner to delegates, sponsors and volunteers.
There were a few extra seats at the wine tasting so we were able to take part. I learned a lot about terrior and micro climates and tasted some great wines.
The event finished with a high energy keynote by Kevin Braush. As we arrived he was teaching Jamie Shewchuck how to open champagne with a blade.
This led to several funny stories, many toasts and then Kevin chatting and posing for photos after the shows.
Fantastic job Enterprise Edmonton, it was a wonderful event. I can’t wait for the next one although I know it will never again be the intimate size it was this year!
