Week one of DS106, the Digital Storytelling cMooc that I am participating in, is over. The topic was boot camp. It was an opportunity for participants to try out some of the tools that will be used in DS106, ensure that their blog is registered in the course blog hub, connect with others from the DS106 community on Twitter, and do a few Daily Creates.
I was pretty well set up for the start of DS106. My blog was already registered in the Headless DS106 Blog Hub, I was already following The Daily Create (@DS106TDC) and many of the participants on Twitter, so I did a few daily creates.
On August 26th, I took this photo for tdc596, the assignment was to “Make an impression: take a photo of an indentation.” I only read about the daily create as I was leaving the office; but since I hadn’t taken my daily photo yet, I was able to take a photo on the way home that combined the daily create with my daily photo.
On August 31st, I took this photo for tdc106, the assignment was to “Draw something 106ish, backwards.” As soon as I read the assignment, I could see a photo of a sticky note that said DS106 in a mirror. However, taking the photo wasn’t as easy as I thought. It was really hard to take a photo that didn’t have me in the reflection. After a few tries I came up with this, although I had to crop a lot out of the photo so the resolution isn’t that great.
Week two, which is about personal cyber infrastructure, started today and I have already completed and posted today’s daily create. Maybe I’ll feel this on top of things all week, but since this is the first week of school for my daughters and the first week of OOE13 it is unlikely that the feeling will last.
